406th/858th BSs
Hasart Crew

A better picture would be most appreciated!

Arriving at Harrington on 2Jun44 as a replacement crew for the 406th BS, they were a ten-man crew quickly reduced to eight but we know not who the orphans were due to the very bad condition of the microfilm for that day. They probably went through the same Operational Training Unit (OTU) experiences as did the 850th BS. Their first mission as a crew was only a partial success because the load was released half a mile in front of the DZ. Through the end of September 1944 they flew twenty missions before the Group entered the "doldrums" of that autumn. Counting gas-haul missions, they appear in the Late Period Log ten times. Their last mission as a crew occured on 5 Jan 1945.
